ZTE to Collaborate with an European Operator for Mozilla–based Smartphone in Europe
January 11, 2013

China's mobile phone equipment maker ZTE said that the company plans to cooperate with a European telecom operator to launch Mozilla-based Smartphones in 2013, according to a report by BBC News on January 10. Mozilla is best known for its internet browser Firefox. The move is part of ZTE's plan to diversify its products aside from the existing Google Android and Microsoft Windows Phone OS (Operating System). The Firefox OS-powered Smartphones are expected to cater for the need of customers who prefer value-line products. In addition to ZTE, Mozilla is also collaborating with Qualcomm and TCL Communication Technology Holdings on mobile devices, according to the same source. The name of the European telecom operator, however, was yet known.
